It’s been a long 5 months and we could not have done this without you! Thank you for your kind words, your calls and e-mails to the DNR, your transport assistance, your monetary donations, and your faith in us. YOU made the difference for us during our temporary closure, and it is because of YOU that we are back!
We will officially open on March 21. We will be open to the public 7 days a week from 10:00am to 1:00pm and 4:00pm to 6:00pm. We are asking people to bring any animal to Wildwoods during those periods when possible. We will house and rehabilitate animals at our facility that are allowed under our permit and transfer all other wildlife and raptors to the appropriate facility as we have done since 2011.
Volunteer with Wildwoods!
Due to DNR regulations, only four hand-picked volunteers will be able to feed and care for the wildlife. But we need you now more than ever. In order for our staff to be able to do what they do best (care for the animals), they need support in many areas.
Even though you may not be able to actually feed the wildlife, we cannot do our work without behind-the-scenes support. We urgently need assistance in the following areas:
- Cleaning Crews: Clean dishes, countertops, enclosures, and crates, and sweep and mop floors. Help with our voluminous amounts of laundry.
- Facilities and Grounds Care: Share your renovation, carpentry, and landscaping skills!
- Administration: Manage voicemail messages and phone calls, enter admit data and care records into our tracking system, accept donations at the door, and share your communications expertise!
- Food Preparation: Prepare formula, vitamins, and solid food for mammals and birds at the request of staff.
- Transportation: Transport animals to WRC, The Raptor Center, and Wild and Free when needed.
You can sign up on our website here. There is no job too small when it comes to the care of our area wildlife, and we thank you for joining us!
